Two regiments are missing from Biffle’s Brigade of Chalmer’s Cavalry Division – (McLemore’s) 4th and (Biffle’s) 9th (19th) Tennessee Regiments. The above list was not strictly an order of battle; it was taken from the Confederate casualty report. The brigade was posted on the far left of the Confederate line and only saw light skirmishing. The 4th and 9th Regiments took no casualties. One man in Company D of the 10th Regiment (Christopher Columbus “Kit” Northern) was killed so only that regiment is listed.
was the 54th alabama @ franklin??? my records show that the 54th was a part of baker’s brigade in clayton’s division of lee’s corps???
Where there any Warrington on the casualty list for Battle of Franklin
I am trying to locate Michael Cotten as I am a decendent of JohnCotten of the 4th Tennesse calvary regiment
I just happened across your post. You can contact me at mcotten@comcast.net . I assume you are descended from Martha Cotten and E. W. Farley.
I have the parole papers from a member of Phelan’s Battery. He was not a family member. My mother found it hidden in a cubby hole in an old desk from our family. Somehow I’m guessing that our family acquired the desk from his family. Last name is Willingham. He was from Tuscaloosa and a young farm boy. I need to do some more research on him.
