The Battle of Franklin Illumination Ceremony will take place at Carnton Plantation on Saturday, November 30 at 4:30 p.m. Some 10,000 luminaries will be on display to commemorate the approximately 10,000 casualties inflicted during the battle. Volunteers from the community are being asked to help with setup and takedown for this event.
The brief ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will last approximately 15 minutes. Carnton Plantation and The Carter House will be extending their usual hours so that guests can enjoy brief walk through tours until 7 p.m. After the ceremony, there will be no admission for the walk through tours but donations will gladly be accepted.
Volunteers are needed to paint the grid for the Illumination on Friday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m. Help will also be needed on Saturday, November 30 to set the luminaries up beginning at 1:00 p.m. and then clean-up after the ceremony. Dinner will be provided to volunteers in the Fleming Center at Carnton Plantation as soon as clean-up is complete.
The Battle of Franklin Trust would like to thank Home Depot for their generous donation of supplies.
