This page is dedicated to the many “Faces of Franklin“, surviving images of soldiers who fought in the Battle of Franklin.  If you have an image to submit please email me.

There were over 40,000 men who were engaged at Franklin, both Confederate and Union.  There were nearly 10,000 casualties (i.e., killed, wounded, missing or captured) from this battle. It is easy to allow time to erase the memory of what happened.

Hopefully, this section of my blog – Faces of Franklin – will help us all to remember once again that the men who fought and died at Franklin were real people.  They were farmers, teachers, carpenters, lawyers, railroad workers, miners, from every walk of life in mid nineteenth century America.
