Gen. Cleburne was, in my estimation, the finest Division Commander in either the Confederate or Union armies. Not only that, he was a gentlemen and way ahead of his time regarding military tactics. His suggestion of letting black men fight for the CSA in exchange for freedom after the war was rejected outright by idiots who would not admit that Confederate arms, in terms of material resources and men, could not match those of the Union. What a mistake, and what a waste of good and heroic officers and soldiers by John Bell Hood. Franklin was simply murder, ordered by Hood.
